Teaming with LVMH in a Circular Economy
You might not know LVMH Group, but there's no way you haven't heard of many of the luxury brands contained with its Group. Based in Paris, France, LVMH contains 75 Houses, each brand known for a unique identity, heritage, and expertise. Houses fall within six sectors: Wine & Spirits, Fashion & Leather Goods, Perfumes & Cosmetics, Watches & Jewelry, Selective Retailers, and Other Activities. Some of the Group's most well-known brands include Hennessy, Veuve Clicquot, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Guerlain, Tag Heuer, Tiffany & Co., Le Bon Marché, Sephora, and Le Parisien.
Roadmap for a Circular Economy
As part of its ESG strategy, LVMH developed its Life 360 environmental performance roadmap. A pillar of Life 360 is a commitment to developing a circular economy through initiatives such as recycling unsold products, upcycling existing stocks, and identifying alternative materials. DandyLion is now able to source excess and unsold fabrics through this program. We recently sourced 350 meters of Loro Piana fabric that is destined for DandyLion pillows and to-the-trade use. Loro Piana joined the LVMH group at the end of 2013.
We're Loving It
We love Loro Piana fabrics and have sourced deadstock quantities in the past when we could find them. Many of our couture pillows are made using Loro Piana materials. Our new ability to source directly assures us of sustainable, ultra-premium-quality fabric with better predictability.
It was founded in 1924 and established its reputation as a supplier of premium wool and cashmere textiles for a growing haute couture industry. The company is now the world’s foremost cashmere processor, sourcing the very finest, rarest raw materials, including cashmere from baby goats in northern China and Mongolia, vicuña from the Andes, extra-fine Merino wool from Australia and New Zealand, and lotus flower fiber from Myanmar. It has set the benchmark for the world’s finest yarns and fabrics, producing 5 million meters of fabric each year.
Another reason we love Loro Piana is its commitment to the sustainability of these rare, exclusive fibers. The company has invested in long-term conservation programs to safeguard the animals and their habitats, and it supports and encourages ongoing research and development. Thanks to LVMH's foresight and commitment to a circular economy, we're able to join in a larger global sustainability effort while maintaining our hallmark level of quality. Thanks LVMH!
