Heirloom wedding gifts, fresh local produce, investing locally—Saturdays in Waitsfield is where it's at

Heirloom wedding gifts, fresh local produce, investing locally—Saturdays in Waitsfield is where it's at

When your dollars and community matter, there's no better way to stretch one while supporting the other than by shopping a local farmer's market. And on Saturdays through October, that's where you'll find us. As an approved vendor at the Waitsfield Farmer's Market, we're having a blast meeting people, getting tight with the local community, and selling pillows.

You usually don't think of a farmer's market as a place to sell premium-quality home goods. Waitsfield is different. Only 1,844 people live in Waitsfield proper. However, its nostalgic small-town ambiance and location in the scenic Mad River Valley—plus the fact that it has 80 wedding venues—make it a summer hub for tourists and wedding guests from all over the country. The Farmer's Market greets up to 2,000 people a weekend shopping for Vermont-made agricultural, artisan, and prepared food products. And buying last-minute wedding gifts.

According to Market Manager Miranda Dalton, the Market has high standards for its vendors who are chosen each year through an application process. Artisanal products must be sourced and/or handmade in Vermont. Quality is a key requirement, as is uniqueness.

"We really like the fact that DandyLion's products are made from recycled fabrics," said Dalton. "Sustainably based businesses have always been a huge part of Vermont's heritage and they do well here."

The Waitsfield Farmer's Market is a great way to be in front of customers.  As a maker, I'm usually behind the scenes. But on Saturdays, I get to hear directly from the people who buy and love our products. Customer feedback helps me shape future fabric and design choices, and they really resonate with our story and what we're doing.

Dalton adds, "Dollars really matter where we spend them. We can spend them on fast fashion or cheaply made stuff off the Internet, or we can invest in local businesses and neighbors. The Farmer's Market is a great place to spend our money on quality and invest in our community."

DandyLion is Vermont. From our bootstrapped beginning and as we're growing nationally, those roots of sustainability and quality are the bedrock of our brand and products. If you're heading to Vermont for a wedding, don't miss Waitsfield Farmer's Market on Saturday! Located on the Mad River Green, right off Route 100.
